The Sherilyn Gordon Memorial Travel Award was established in 2017 to provide travel assistance to medical students, residents, and advanced transplant providers for attendance at the Annual State of the Art Winter Symposium. The award was created in memory of ASTS member and transplant surgeon Dr. Sherilyn Gordon, who was a mentor to and advocate for many trainees during her time at The Methodist Hospital, Houston. The award honors her dedication to transplantation, commitment to transplant patients, and passion for education.

Three awards are available annually (1 recipient per category), contingent upon the receipt of qualified applications. Recipient(s) will be recognized during the Awards Ceremony at the 2024 Winter Symposium and will receive:

  • Complimentary registration for Winter Symposium
  • 3 night’s hotel at the Winter Symposium
  • Honoraria to Winter Symposium

Individuals interested in applying must provide a brief summary of their current practice, why they want to attend the Winter Symposium, and how the award will assist in fulfilling their professional development. Applicants must also submit a letter of support from an ASTS member.
